My Wedding Day by Celia
The 30th July was an amazing and unforgettable day for us.
It is funny how people give you advice before your wedding day. One of the things a lot of people told us was “… to relish in the moment because it will be over before you know it…”. These words were spinning in my head in the days leading up to the Big Day and now I feel so happy I did it. I relished every single moment.
I spent the night before our wedding at my parents. I didn´t sleep very well that night because I was very nervous and it was really hot in Spain. But in the morning, my nervousness was gone and I knew it was going to be a special day. Thank God!
My mum helped me to put on my dress and jewellery; my brother put on my shoes and my father was waiting for me at the front door to give me my beautiful bouquet.
My father and I went together to The Cathedral and I will never forget that special moment: To be with my father, holding hands before I got married.
When we arrived at The Cathedral my nerves were back! All our relatives and friends were inside waiting for me and I couldn´t wait to see my future husband, Jorge.
A Choir was singing “This is why we sing” (Greg Gilpin) and, even today, I get excited when I hear this song, remembering that amazing moment when I was waking down the aisle with my father and I saw Jorge.
The ceremony was very special for us. The Choir played our chosen songs and some friends read the beautiful readings. Everybody who loves us was there and it was great to share the beautiful moment we became husband and wife, with them all.
After the ceremony we went to “El Rancho de la Aldegüela” a very typical Spanish restaurant in an old rural farm. I really recommend you this place if you come to Segovia! (my hometown)
The reception was full of lovely, amazing and unforgettable moments and we danced all night and everyone had fun!
From the very beginning of our engagement Jorge and I talked about how we wanted our wedding to be one where every single person we ever loved and cared about could be with us to celebrate. We wanted to have the best party of our lives…surrounded by all the people we loved. Well it was all of that and more.
We felt blessed to look around and see the faces of our true friends, to see family who had travelled from near and far to be with us…
It is a bit hard to explain in words the depth of love I felt that day, but it is something I will never forget.
